Tyler Tribute - Page 2 Wednesday, July 1, 2015 Obituaries Mervil Knudsen July 25, 1921 -June 25, 2015 Mervil Knudsen, age 93 of Tyler, passed away Thursday, June 25 at Tra- ditions in Owatonna. Fu- neral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 30 at Danebod Lutheran Church in Tyler. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at church. Burial was in the church cem- etery. Mervil Knudsen was born July 25, 1921 in Lake Benton to Peter and Dag- mar (Mitchell) Knudsen. He was baptized and con- firmed at Diamond Lake Lutheran Church and at- tended country school near Lake Benton. Mervil served his country in the U.S. Army. On November 11, 1945 Mervil married Lorraine Blaine in Ruth- ton. They lived in Lake Benton, then in Vancouver, Wash. for a short time be- fore returning to the Tyler area. Mervil was a wonder- ful carpenter; he was very skilled and worked on many projects throughout southwest Minnesota. His work was his life. He spent a lot of time hunting with his lifelong friends and fishing on Lake Benton. Mervil was an avid Min- nesota Vikings and Twins fan. Mervil is survived by his wife Lorraine; son David (Carol) Knudsen; grand- children--Keri Knudsen, Sheila (Knudsen) Sims, Michael Knudsen, Brian Seid, Jessica (Seid) Wood- ruff, Melissa (Seid) Parkin- son, Brandi (Sharp) Vieths and Renae Sharp; great- grandchildren--Abby and Austin Sims, Clara and Kyle Woodruff, Gabrielle, Sophia and Makenna Par- kinson, Olivia, Tucker and Finnigan Vieths, Devan Swerman and Maryn and Makenzie Seid; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters Mary Lou Seid and Cindy Sharp, two brothers and three sisters. Proschaska says he will be slowly working himself into the mix of clients. "I'm sitting in on as many meetings as I can," Proshcaska said. "Eventu- ally I will be doing [a full schedule of] estate plan- ning." Proschaska is currently living in Brookings, S.D., after working and living in Lakeville since 2013. He graduated from the Uni- versity of Minnesota with his law degree in 2013, passed the Minnesota bar in July of that year, and was admitted in October 2013. '7~t that time I started doing contract work for a firm in Lakeville," Pros- chaska said. "Then, in or- der to expand my options, I took the Wisconsin bar exam in the summer of 2014 and was admitted that September.", He said he is now in the area of law in which he had always hoped to be in- volved. "I expect to be involved in estate planning long- term," Proschaska said. "Other areas of law are liti- gation-focused, and a lot of clashing. Estate planning is more about relationship- building." He says he hopes to get some free time this sum- mer to start exploring the area. "Between moving and training, I have had a hec- tic first couple of months," he admitted. Marketing Co- ordinator Jodi Weber says the firm can cover all areas of estate planning. "We have the infrastruc- ture of support staff in place to accomplish the complete written planning documents in their en- tirety, for our clients at the corporate office in Tyler" Weber said. She married Roger Ligman, they lived in Eagan and had four chil- dren. Phyllis is survived by her children Roger Ligman, Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif., Ryan Ligman (wife Cally) of Winona, Kristi Jean Madi- son (husband Mitchell) of Richfield and Rebekah Feist (husband Shawn) of Midland, Mich.; grand- children Anika and Kellan Feist and Mari Jolene Lig- man, She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Phillip Her- schberger. Sylvia Biever Sept. 17, 1917 - June 12, 2015 Memorial Mass of Chris- tian Burial for Sylvia Biev- er, age 97, formerly of Ty- ler, will be Friday, July 10, 11:30 a.m. at St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler with visitation one hour prior to the service, all at the church. Despite the awful winds, the residents and tenants of Danebod Vil- lage enjoyed themselves. Highlands of the North is a husband and wife team from Watertown, S.D., who came dressed in kilts with their bagpipes and played some Scottish, Irish and American tunes. They also gave us a little history on how they started playing bagpipes, along with the history of how bagpipes came into existence. Virginia Thomsen went to John and Tonya Thom- sen's on Father's Day for a grill-out for supper. A good time was had by all. Vernon Kock went to Marshall on Sunday eve- ning to visit with his wife Agneta. Their daughter Deb Schaefer. accompa- nied them. Rob Bullerman enjoyed his visit with his brother Bill Bullerman of Canby this week. Also, Rite Doy- scher has stopped in a couple times throughout the week for a visit. Elfriede Petersen had a wonderful time at, her daughter's, Sarah Murray of Plymouth, last weekend. They enjoyed their time together and had a few en- joyable outings. They went to the Plymouth Playhouse for a play, went to the Farmers Market and also had brunch at Country Side CafG. Elfriede also ran into her nephew John Wirt and son while at the Farm- ers Market. They enjoyed having coffee and visiting together. Joyce Serie went to the Keith and Kathy Se- rie home on Lake Benton Lake Saturday evening for chicken on the grill and a pontoon ride around the lake.
